We believe the Scriptures reveal the essential teachings of the faith once for all entrusted to God’s people. We seek to follow what is written in Scripture and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the apostles.
The Scriptures
We believe that all Scripture is breathed out by God and is completely sufficient to teach, correct, and train us in righteousness. God’s Word is truth and reveals the way of salvation through faith in Jesus
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 3:16
“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.”
— John 17:17“…the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”
— 2 Timothy 3:15
God
We believe in one God, the Creator of all things. He is immortal, holy, just, and love. We believe in the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.” — Mark 12:29
“Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist…” — 1 Corinthians 8:6a
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” — Revelation 4:11
“The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.” — Deuteronomy 32:4
“God is love.” — 1 John 4:8
“To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” — 1 Timothy 1:17
“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”
— Revelation 4:8b
Jesus
We believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. He is God who became flesh. He lived without sin, died for our sins, was buried, rose from the dead, is now exalted as Lord, and will return one day.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”
— John 1:1,14“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” — Matthew 16:16
“Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day…” — 1 Corinthians 15:3–4
“God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”— Acts 2:36
“Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” — Acts 1:11
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit (who is the third person of the divine God-head) is the promised Helper who dwells in every believer. He convicts the world of sin, leads us in truth, empowers us for service, and transforms us into the image of Christ.
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.” — John 14:16
“Repent and be baptized every one of you… and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” — Acts 2:38
“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” — 1 Corinthians 3:16
“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” — Romans 8:14
“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” — 1 Corinthians 12:4–7
“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” — 2 Corinthians 3:18
Humans
We believe all people are made in the image of God. All have sinned and are separated from Him. We are spiritually dead and without life apart from Christ.
“So God created man in his own image…”
— Genesis 1:27“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23“And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,” — Colossians 2:13
Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s grace and cannot be earned. It is received through faith in Jesus Christ. Those who believe, repent, confess Jesus as Lord, and are baptized into Him receive forgiveness of sins, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and every spiritual blessing.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8
“Repent and be baptized… for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” — Acts 2:38
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” — Romans 10:9
“He saved us… by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.”
— Titus 3:5“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places : — Ephesians 1:3
Baptism
We believe baptism to be by immersion, for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. In baptism we are united with Christ in His death and resurrection, our sins are washed away, and we begin a new life in Him.
And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. — Acts 2:38
And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. And when they came up out of the water…” — Acts 8:38-39
“Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved…”
— Mark 16:16“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death… so that we too might walk in newness of life.”
— Romans 6:4“And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.”
— Acts 22:16“Baptism… now saves you… as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
— 1 Peter 3:21
The Church
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all who have been saved by Him. The Church is the called-out people of God. Christ is the head of the Church, and each member is called to serve and build up the body.
“And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”
— Acts 2:47“Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.”
— 1 Corinthians 12:27“And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body…”
— Ephesians 1:22–23But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. — 1 Peter 2:9
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
— Acts 2:42
Eternity
We believe in the final resurrection of both the saved and lost. There will be a final judgment. The righteous will dwell with God forever in eternal glory (Heaven), and those who reject Him will face eternal punishment (Hell).
“And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” — Matthew 25:46
“We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ…” — 2 Corinthians 5:10
“For the Lord himself will descend from heaven… and the dead in Christ will rise first.” — 1 Thessalonians 4:16
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more…” — Revelation 21:4
Communion
We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a memorial given by Jesus. When we take the bread and the cup, we proclaim His death until He comes. It is a time of remembrance, thanksgiving, and self-examination. We partake in communion weekly in keeping with the practice of the early church.
“This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me… This cup is the new covenant in my blood.” — 1 Corinthians 11:24–25
“For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.” — 1 Corinthians 11:26
“Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.” — 1 Corinthians 11:28
On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread…” — Acts 20:7
